The old saying “ you are what you eat” has not lost any of its relevance. It might be an inconvenient truth, but what we put in our mouth has probably THE biggest impact on our health. I am convinced that you cannot be your best self, your healthiest, smartest and happiest when you live on over processed, sugared, artificial food.
You don’t have to be perfect, nobody is.
Unless you are dealing with a chronic health condition and just want to feel better the 80/20 rule applies. 80% you eat for health and performance, 20% for pure pleasure and joy.
Want to know you how you are doing? Keep a food journal for 5 days. Include the weekend, many people’s eating habits are radically different on the weekend, ‘rewarding’ themselves with that extra glass of alcohol and just living on processed food as it is part of ‘relaxing’ so get the full picture!
And then check for yourself. Is 80% of your diet real, unprocessed food? You know, broccoli and beef rather than Cereal and protein bars?
